Triphala

Triphala

Triphala is a combination of three ayurvedic fruits: Amalaki, Bibhitaki and Haritaki.

Triphala is a traditional Ayurvedic formula that tones and supports normal function to the bowel. Most laxatives act as irritants to the bowel, and over time can make the bowel contract to eliminate which also irritates the mucosa – then the body requires more laxatives. The problem is that the mucosa over time becomes desensitized even to the food pressing on the wall of the intestinal tract. This creates a very sluggish and non-responsive bowel. This 3-fruit formula is simply a bowel toner, designed to restore the muscular function and contractibility of the intestinal wall.

During each meal, the intestinal tract produces a certain amount of mucus that helps lubricate it. Over time, some of this digestive mucus builds up in the digestive tract, clogging the little hair-like villi that help the body absorb its nutrients. Triphala, which is an Ayurvedic herbal formula, helps to cleanse the mucus off the digestive villi, making for a more efficient digestive process. This formula has three fruits that support the elimination process:
Amalaki is a fruit that supports intestinal repair.
Bibhitaki pulls the old mucus off the wall.
Haritaki strengthens the intestinal muscles to contract more efficiently when the bowels need to move.

TriphalaTriphala (sometimes spelled Trifala): Triphala supports bowel tone, muscular function, and contractibility of the intestinal wall, strengthening peristalsis and thereby supporting smooth digestion, assimilation and elimination. Triphala also helps maintain an appropriate balance of mucus lining the intestinal wall, preventing and clearing mucus buildup – which can hinder assimilation – and making sure a healthy layer remains, which soothes the digestive tract and buffers against strong digestive acids. While Triphala is not a laxative, it has provided many with healthy elimination support.

elim 1, TriphalaElim I: Lifespa’s Elim I combines the Ayurvedic bowel-toning herb Triphala with demulcent herbs and a small amount of psyllium to support healthy movement of the bowels. Elim I works to soften and lubricate the mucus membranes of a dry intestinal tract while simultaneously strengthening the bowel muscles to effectively support waste moving out of the system. Long-term use of laxatives can desensitize the bowel, making it unresponsive. In contrast to laxatives, Elim I takes a multi-pronged approach to supporting healthy bowel movement, rather than relying solely on a stimulant effect.

triphala gugguluTriphala Guggulu: This classic Ayurvedic preparation combines the detoxifying and rejuvenating actions of triphala with the deeply penetrating and cleansing actions of guggulu. Triphala Guggulu effectively decongests the channels of the body and scrapes away natural toxins held within the tissues. It is particularly useful for weight management as it enkindles the digestive fire, promotes healthy metabolism and releases excess kapha from the system. Used to maintain overall health, Triphala Guggulu minimizes the accumulation of toxins in the GI tract, blood and joints by supporting proper digestion and elimination.
